RF safety expert, Kevin Fisher, outlines various topics concerning human exposure to RF radiation. Included in the video are discussions of the nature of non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation, how it differs from ionizing radiation, the biological effects of exposure to EMF, sources of RF energy, FCC and OSHA RF exposure standards and limits, measurement devices, RF signage, PPE, and how to operate safely in an RF environment. Following the viewing of this RF safety awareness video, a worker can be allowed to operate in a controlled (occupational) RF environment per FCC and OSHA rules.
The purpose of this safety training video is to ensure all workers are trained in RF safety awareness for the purposes of accessing the 81st floor setbacks and all exterior areas above the 86th Floor observatory (exception is the 103rd Floor setback which is a public area). Any employees/contractors accessing these areas are required to do this training. This training is good for two (2) years from the date the training was received. All employee and contractor RF Safety compliance data is managed by Smith and Fisher and will be accessible by the ESRT Broadcast Operations office.
